I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED this article in The Huffington Post today, I want to hug Raymmar Tirado…..and Arianna Huffington while I’m at it, for having the balls to keep printing interesting, honest, and taboo articles.  Even the title is great: 7 REASONS WHY YOU WILL NEVER DO ANYTHING AMAZING WITH YOUR LIFE

It is time to read The Alchemist

AlchemistAlchemist2

I’m finally going to read The Alchemist written in 1988 by Paulo Coelho, my copy came today!  I prefer old-fashioned hand-held books; complete with the anticipation that is, ground mail. I’ve heard it said that this book changes lives,  I’ve also heard that Paulo Coelho believes life gives you the signs you need, and that if you can learn to recognize them; great things will begin to happen for you.  Well, this book title came up 6 times in a three-day period, it was strange. Was that a sign?lol I read a reference to it in a book, two magazines, a webpage, Stylelikeu, and then I heard it mentioned while in a restaurant!  I looked up quotes from the book, and they intrigued me enough to crack a spine and keep my postman employed……

“When you really want something to happen, the whole world conspires to help you achieve it.”
―    Paulo Coelho

“It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.”
―    Paul Coelho

“You came so that you could learn about your dreams,” said the old woman. “And dreams are the language of God. When he speaks in our language, I can interpret what he has said. But if he speaks in the language of the soul, it is only you who can understand.
―   Paul Coelho

“He was sure that it made no difference to her on which day he appeared: for her, every day was the same, and when each day is the same as the next, it’s because people fail to recognize the good things that happen in their lives every day the sun rises.”
―    Paul Coelho

I really like the next two quotes about love.  I believe that love is uncomplicated; true love is freeing and simple.

“One is loved because one is loved. No reason is needed for loving.”
―    Paulo Coelho

“So, I love you because the entire universe conspired to help me find you.” ―    Paulo Coelho

“There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.” ―    Paulo Coelho

“The simple things are also the most extraordinary things, and only the wise can see them.” ―    Paulo Coelho

“Love is an untamed force. When we try to control it, it destroys us. When we try to imprison it, it enslaves us. When we try to understand it, it leaves us feeling lost and confused.”  ―  Paulo Coelho

Would your best-friend help you jump out of a plane or die?

Nick-Chisolm

Nick Chisholm had a stroke while playing rugby in 2000 and is now locked in his own body.  Locked in syndrome means you are listening to everything going on around you without being able to speak, open your eyes, breathe on your own, or move your body.  You know what Nick’s best-friend did when he found out his friend was in this condition? He offered to kill him, to end his misery, would your best-friend do that?  Well, I’m glad he didn’t take the life of this man, because Nick is amazing!  Nick and his best-friend even jumped out of a plane together since the stroke! Nick works out more than most able bodied people the guy can’t walk or speak, but he can lift 40 pounds at the gym and press 224.  I encourage everybody to take the time to read this article from Men’s Health I’ll never forget what I learned from it and to try to sum it up here would be disrespectful; there is too much I could leave out.

“The most dangerous woman in the world.”

Gawww, my friends know better than to get me started on Lucia Rijker. This is a woman who changed the face of female boxing forever. She didn’t just master boxing there was, softball, judo, kick boxing, acting, four languages, Buddhism,  and she now trains Olympians! I’m tired thinking about it! I find her amazingly inspirational. There is also something in her eyes that is terrifying when she is sizing up an opponent; I love that about her.  When she speaks, it’s evident that she is intelligent, methodical, composed, and elegant….but, a really dangerous elegant woman. lol I enjoyed watching the Sports Science episode where Lucia proved she could hit harder than a MMA male fighter. (posted above)  I was thinking about her today because I need gym motivation….I am going to amp up my workouts in the next few weeks and I will be telling myself that I can’t quit, I need some Lucia Rijker resolve!
