How Does Johnny Depp do it?

I didn’t even realize this was Johnny Depp when I was watching the trailer!  AMAZING!  I can’t wait to see this one!  Southpaw was really good because Jake Gyllenhaal is gorgeous but it was pretty much Rocky remade for the 21st century. FYI

If I Were Building a 50 Shades of Grey Soundtrack

If I were the next 50 Shades of Grey producer I would add the chorus of this track to the final installment of 50 shades of grey soundtrack.  Christian Grey isn’t that hot,”(Charlie Hunnam is though.) ” Free Dat B****!!” lol

Betty Page was a Schizophrenic and liked 50 Shades of Grey?

Well, I just didn’t know a damn thing about Betty Page. (I thought I did?)  I grew up seeing pictures of her on the wall of my uncle Joe’s garage and my dad had one of those pens that took all of her clothes off when you picked it up to write.  He kept it hidden in his tool box, but I would play with it when he would send me to the garage to get a pair of pliers or a screwdriver.  I didn’t know that she was the original “50 Shades of Grey” either?  I had no idea she made bondage photos until I saw this documentary.  Wow, for the time, that sure took some moxie?

She was also her class Salutatorian!

Have you seen this documentary?  I think the whole thing is on YouTube?  If not, you should give it a whirl.  First of all, she was ornery as hell and I love a women like that!  She was also a healthy looking woman with a normal body!

Her story was empowering and sad at the same time, anybody that has ever had a horrible landlord can understand her attacking one…lol  But having to spend 10 years institutionalized in a mental hospital?  I supposed it was also because of her nervous breakdown and the schizophrenia, but 10 years?  She should have lashed out at her father, that man was disgusting which you’ll learn about in the film.  Maybe a psychologist would say her father was the person she was lashing out at in a way when she attacked her landlord?…..

She doesn’t show herself on the film because she wanted to be remembered the way she was in her pictures, but you’ll hear her aged voice narrating the film.  RIP Betty Page.

This Kind of Guy Turns Me Onnnn

Is This True of the Ones You Call, Friend?

And a youth said, “Speak to us of Friendship.”  Your friend is your needs answered.  He is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving.  And he is your board and your fireside.  For you come to him with your hunger, and you seek him for peace. When your friend speaks his mind you fear not the “nay” in your own mind, nor do you withhold the “ay.”  And when he is silent your heart ceases not to listen to his heart;       For without words, in friendship, all thoughts, all desires, all expectations are born and shared, with joy that is unacclaimed.  When you part from your friend, you grieve not; For that which you love most in him may be clearer in his absence, as the mountain to the climber is clearer from the plain.  And let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit.  For love that seeks aught but the disclosure of its own mystery is not love but a net cast forth: and only the unprofitable is caught.  And let your best be for your friend.  If he must know the ebb of your tide, let him know its flood also.  For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill?  Seek him always with hours to live.  For it is his to fill your need, but not your emptiness.   And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures.  For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.

There Was A Creepy Female Vampire Before Dracula

Bram Stoker wrote “Dracula” 25 years after Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu wrote “Carmilla.”  A short story about a female vampire who wants a girl named, Laura.  This was in 1872! I always hear about Dracula (still one of the best vampire books I’ve ever read) but Carmilla came first and she is just as creepy, erie, gothic, and frightening as Dracula ever was!  Since the Halloween season is upon us, you may want to scare yourself with this well-written classic, you can download it for free here:

Once was enough for me, I can’t read scary books or watch frightening movies….I’m a wimp to the genre, but I become braver when it’s a classic! (I powered through for Stoker and Fanu!)  And why haven’t the names, “Bram” and “Carmilla” made a comeback?  Those are great names!

HaveHeart Magazine For Women

Have you heard of HaveHeart Magazine? I first saw it posted on a blog I follow earlier in the year and I’ve become hooked. It’s so refreshing to read a woman’s magazine that isn’t centered on superficial bullshit. Heather Niccoli the founder, chooses articles with real life perspectives and refuses to allow any photoshopping, period. The monthly contributing writers all seem to be chosen because they have a genuinely interesting take on things women experience and think about. I get the sense that no matter how nice the writers might seem in their bio’s, these are not the type of women you’d want to try taking a parking spot from. They all seem so strong, empowered, brave, witty, and unapologetic. It’s inspiring! In addition to that, they are all so different, HaveHeart really seems to do a great job representing all women.

I love to look at the art/pictures in the tiles as much as reading the articles. I don’t know who designs those tiles it may be Heather herself, but they pop and sparkle, are brightly colored, have a vintage vibe, and the best part is: they are always UNIQUE!

I haven’t been disappointed yet by HaveHeart Magazine, there is something worth reading every month! You can link to HaveHeart here:
